The house is situated in Torre de la Horadada,
which is where all the local Spaniards have their holiday homes.
In fact. they come from as far as Madrid to spend thier
summers here! With great
weather, a chain of unspoilt beach coves, little local bars and restaurants,
it has a real family, community feel. It is also a great base for Golf as it
is situated only 10/15 minutes away from several top courses.
The major town of Torrevieja is only a short drive away.
The resort is part of the renowned Orihuela Coast with some of the best beaches in Spain. It is just off the Motorway and coastal road that link it to the airports, towns and golf courses. There is even a bus route that runs from practically outside the house, through Pilar and all the local towns, all the way to Murcia (takes 1.5 hours to get there, mind!).
Thus it combines the atmosphere of a sleepy seaside town while also being directly connected to all the local sporting amenities, facilities, restaurants, nightlife etc. There is a cinema in Pilar showing English-language films (on the weekend) and a municipal swimming pool with retractable roof, so it is available all year round. In the summer the sporting activities are too numerous to mention. There are all the usual watersports available from the beaches and the marina, with beach football and volleyball pitches, even paragliding. All year round there's tennis, horse riding, rambling, golf, mountain biking etc. Take a look at the tourist office websites below. The nearest airport is Murcia (San Javier), which is only 15kms away. Flybe, Easyjet and Ryanair fly there among many others. Also, Alicante airport is only 60kms (about 45mins) away and flights there are cheap and plentiful. Both airports are linked directly to the resort by motorway. About an hour's drive up the motorway are the fleshpots of Benidorm. In particular there is Spain's greatest Theme Park - Terra Mitica. This has a lot of white knuckle rides etc. loosely based around a Mediterranean mythological theme. Here's a link to the website in English. Here are some more links through to local tourist sites.
